There's something in this picture that fascinates me but I'm not sure what that is. Well, I'm sure that was what you were after when shooting this photo - To make people wondering. You really succeeded in it. Excellent capture!
wow this screams martin parr or edward scissor hands or even tim burton in genral. its surreal and almost sinister. it makes me want to look over and over again but after a while it makes you feel uneasy, like those places that are just so perfect or colorfull you just cant stand it.. i know what i mean. anyway i love it
I'm drawn by the "snapshot" quality of this one with its subdued tones (60's colour film), static poses and surreal elements.
I can't help but be interested in the lives of these people even tho it seems like a re-presentation of the mundane, the everyday: the pre-fab beige of the house, the weary yellowing lawn, the glum sky.....
Yet there is so much to read here, I love the way you composed in a very formal way, like a rehearsed portrait but acting like a family album moment.
Incidentally did you ever see the work of Gary Winogrand? [link]
I love the humanity aspect of this photo...i cant explain it but i am drawn to it...its just something so loving, so natural, that speaks volumes of their relationship..sort of like the love is in the small things...i cant put into words what feelings this picture evokes...the lighting is perfect...it feels like a hot summer evening in the south...probably a weekend day... i am in love with this picture..... *sigh*
This is off topic from the photo, but did you ever take photos at Tampa Bay Downs? Your style reminds me of a photo I saw of a golfer/bettor at Tampa surrounded by some jockeys. I'm really impressed with your whole gallery ... glad you get such deserved recognition.
